Dear Friends
This is indeed a great pleasure and honour for me to convey my greetings
and appreciation on the occasion of 12th Annual Meeting of the Pakistan
Association of Plastic Surgeons scheduled to be held in Peshawer in
February 2007.
Peshawar derives its name from a Sanskrit word "Pushpapura"
meaning the city of flowers. Peshawar’s flowers were mentioned
even in Moghul Emperor Babar’s memoirs. The great Babar marched
through historic Khyber Pass to conquer South Asia in 1526 and set up
the Moghul Empire in the South Asia. The Khyber pass and the valley
have resounded to the tramp of marching feet as successive armies hurtled
down the crossroad of history, pathway of commerce, migration and invasion
by Aryans, Scythians, Persians, Greeks, Bactrians, Kushans, Huns, Turks’
Mongols and Moghuls. There are a number of things to visit and do in
Peshawar. Being an important border city the bazaars of Peshawar are
most attractive. There is always a lot of activity in the City. The
Kissa Khawani Bazaar (Story tellers Bazaar) is worth seeing. There is
merchandise from all over Central Asia here. Oriental Rugs, Afghan Jewelry,
Tribal Handicrafts, Wood carving, Spices and all kinds of fabrics are
available in the city.
With the passage of time the PAPS annual meetings have evolved to fulfill
most of the criteria of plastic surgery meetings any where in the world.
Good scientific research oriented papers highlight the need of the conference.
Similarly good cultural and social events tell us the richness of culture
which is unique in this part of the world. The Khattak dance and Polo
are the unique activities of NWFP.
This meeting, I am sure, will keep you abreast with modern scientific
knowledge and provide you a wide platform for interaction to both the
novice and the Veteran. The live aesthetic plastic surgery will ensure
the high psycho-motor activities for teaching & learning in this
meeting. The social events, different types of food and historical site
seeing will be additional help for your soul and body. An experience
of lifetime awaits you...
